Returns & exchanges.

Every piece is made to order — no pre-stock, no waste. That changes how returns work.

  • Damaged, defective, or the wrong item shipped to you: free reprint or refund. Email within 30 days with your order number and a photo.
  • Doesn’t fit when you try it on: we can’t offer free size exchanges (reprinting + reshipping means a full second production run). Please check the Bella+Canvas 3001 size chart on the product page. If the fit is really off, email us — we help case by case with a discounted reorder or store credit.
  • Prints and change of mind: archival prints cannot be exchanged or returned. We don’t accept returns for buyer’s remorse on any item.

↑ 8,842 FT

4,737 vertical feet above the Yosemite Valley floor.

The granite face above Yosemite Valley. Its summit stood above the Ice Age glaciers.

— The Story

A granite face,still standing.

I am 8,842 feet above sea level — and I stand 4,737 feet above the floor of Yosemite Valley. Ice Age glaciers scraped my flanks as recently as 20,000 years ago, but never reached my summit. I am Half Dome Granodiorite, formed about 85 million years ago when the Sierra Nevada batholith was rising.

The state geologist once called me "perfectly inaccessible." In 1875 George Anderson drilled holes, hammered in iron bolts of his own making, and stood on top. The cable route up my eastern shoulder has been open since 1919 — 400 feet of steel cables drilled into the granite. On June 28, 1957, three climbers finished a five-day climb of my 2,000-foot northwest face. Today a permit system caps the cables at 300 hikers a day.

The terrain on this piece is real Yosemite topography, drawn from USGS 3DEP elevation data.

The summit is the easy part. The granite remembers everything else.
